Vincent Laforet Vs Andreas Gursky

September 22, 2007

Really impressed by the photgraphy of Vincent Laforet… love the arial perspectives. Really reminds me of Andreas Gursky who is one of my favourite artist/photgraphers. Also check out the amazing editorial photgraphy – particularly Pakistan and Hurricane Katrina. Wow.

This looks like a blatant Richard Misrach ripoff.

Whenever a very commercial photographer has images like this, you generally find that they are almost complete replications of a prominent fine art photographer of the time. In this case…you have a busy commercial photographer in Laforet doing a single image that basically BORROWS its inspiration from a series Misrach has been doing for a few years now.
